And Chicken Little said, “The Sky is Falling”

Vix Thibedeau and Chicken Little: A Tale One day Chicken Little was walking in the woods when — KERPLUNK — an acorn fell on her head.

“Oh my goodness!” said Chicken Little. “The sky is falling! I must go and tell the king.”

On her way to the king’s palace, Chicken Little met Henny Penny. Henny Penny said that she was going into the woods to hunt for worms.

“Oh no, don’t go!” said Chicken Little. “I was there and the sky fell on my head! Come with me to tell the king.” So Henny Penny joined Chicken Little and they went along and went along, as fast as they could. Soon they met Cocky Locky, who said, “I’m going to the woods to hunt for seeds.”

“Oh no, don’t go!” said Henny Penny. “The sky is falling there! Come with us to tell the king.” So Cocky Locky joined Henny Penny and Chicken Little, and they went along and went along, as fast as they could. Soon they met Turkey Lurkey, who was planning to go to the woods to look for berries.

“Oh no, don’t go!” said Cocky Locky. “The sky is falling there! Come with us to tell the king.” So Turkey Lurkey joined Cocky Locky, Henny Penny and Chicken Little, and they went along as fast as they could. Then who should appear on the path but sly old Foxy Woxy.

“Where are you going, my fine feathered friends?” asked Foxy Woxy. He spoke in a polite manner, so as not to frighten them.

“The sky is falling!” cried Chicken Little. “We must tell the king.”

“I know a shortcut to the palace,” said Foxy Woxy sweetly. “Come and follow me.”

But wicked Foxy Woxy did not lead the others to the palace. He led them right up to the entrance of his foxhole. Once they were inside, Foxy Woxy was planning to gobble them up!

Just as Chicken Little and the others were about to go into the fox’s hole, they heard a strange sound and stopped. It was the king’s hunting dogs, growling and howling. How Foxy Woxy ran, across the meadows and through the forests, with the hounds close behind. He ran until he was far, far away and never dared to come back again.

After that day, Chicken Little always carried an umbrella with her when she walked in the woods. The umbrella was a present from the king. And if — KERPLUNK — an acorn fell, Chicken Little didn’t mind a bit. In fact, she didn’t notice it at all.

A Perfect Storm

When fashion blogging, or even just getting dressed for the day, sometimes one might feel like “This outfit is just okay” or “I’m really digging this look” – but somedays, on those rare occasions, the stars align and all the perfect elements fall into place and you end up with a look, or even better, a shot, that just knocks your socks off.

Today was one of those days for me.

It started with a trip to the now-open event, Designers United 5: Surrealism. One of the Seraphim bloggers had shown me a photo of this outfit by Maitreya, and I knew immediately that it had to be mine. I’ve always been a huge Salvador Dalí fan – he has used this spindly leg effect in many of his paintings – and have been fortunate enough to see an exhibit of his art in RL. I even went twice.

I also found at DU5 this amazing hair by [INK] Hair and this collar/birdcage contraption by .Olive. I modded the cage though by turning it around so it would match the flow of the hair. I couldn’t be happier with the look! And as the icing on top, Dani shared this amazing windlight with me that she had found on Juicybomb ages ago. It’s the perfect compliment to this outfit and also for the autumn season.

Oh, and if you didn’t know, my super duper favorite skin place, Essences, is having a 50% off sale, too! YAY!!! No word on when it will end, though. I promise I didn’t buy them all. ; )

And truly last but not least, before I published this post I realized, “Oh, it’s Monday, let me go see what Berry’s meme is for today just in case I want to add it in here,” and what do ya know, it’s a Surrealism Challenge meme! 2 birds, 1 stone – WOOT!

Be sure to stop by Designers United before it ends on October 4th and find YOUR inspiration!

Surrealism is destructive, but it destroys

only what it considers to be shackles limiting our vision.

Mad Woman

Mad Women

I can’t believe how long it’s been since I did a post. Summer truly comes and goes in the blink of an eye in RL, and it appears my life in SL has suffered the same fate.

So what’s been going on with me? Well, I suppose most importantly SL wise, after doing Strawberry’s Proportions Challenge meme, I decided to change my body size AND my face shape! 0.0

I’d had my previous body/face for years and it worked great for me, but I was ready for something new, so I played with the sliders and found a cute size and face that I really enjoyed. My intent was to try it on for a few days, get a feel for it and see if I wanted to keep it and I have yet to take it off, so I guess this is “the new me.” hehe

In RL I’ve become obsessed – albeit late – with the show “Mad Men.” I just love the characters and the storyline, and seeing the culture of that era and how far we’ve come, it’s just mind-boggling. To reflect my new obsession, I decided to put together my own “Mad Woman” look in-world. I couldn’t be happier with the result.

Are there any other Mad Men and Women out there? :)

The Wonderful World of…

Galea&Vix Cut

Yesterday Galea IMd me all in a frenzy because she’d found this great home and garden store, and I had to TP over to see what all the fuss was about.

The store – [we’re CLOSED] – had some SERIOUSLY cool stuff, which has my brain running in circles thinking of a new home setup to incorporate a vast majority of it. But when perving the creator’s profile, I saw that they also run a place called Hazardous, so we TPd over and found this really great sim that was just made for a great photo op – hence, the pic above!

There were also quite a few people roaming around, and I had the greatest convo with none other than Mickey Mouse while we were there, before he had to head out for another 4-hour gig entertaining some brats…I mean “kids”!

*cough* In addition to being one of my best friends and business partners, Galea is also the last person I spoke with in SL, which leads me to Strawberry Singh’s latest meme: Communication Meme! So without further adieu…

1. Who did you speak to last in-world today? Galea Steinbeck of Fashioncentric. She is one of my favorite people to work with and we’re in the midst of planning something special! Shhhh, it’s a secret!

2. Who has taught you most about SL? An old flame that I won’t name, in the sense that it made me realize how powerful connections made in SL can be, and also how much damage can be wrought by them.

3. Who do you turn to for help? It depends on the kind of help, but usually I turn to Dani, Galea or Shae.

4. Who is the most entertaining person on your friend list? Keith Naumova, as he always knows how to make me laugh and distract me from the business side of my SLife.

5. Do you speak to your SL friends outside of SL? Some of them, yes, and some I’ve even met in person.

6. Are you part of a community or family inworld? Not part of a family in the traditional sense, but I consider all the wonderful people that work with me at Seraphim as my SL family.

7. Are you usually around a lot of people or do you spend most of your time alone in-world? I spend most of my time alone. If I’m in-world, I’m probably working and therefore not really able to hangout or chat. When I do take a break and visit a friend, it’s a great feeling to actually get to “see” them vs. just chat with them in IMs all the time.
